cornichon
Definition:
[KOR-nih-shohn; kor-nee-SHOHN] French for "gherkin," cornichons are crisp, tart pickles made from tiny gherkin cucumbers. They're a traditional accompaniment to pâtés as well as smoked meats and fish.
